James Brown London Photo Fabulous Intensive Treatment- Review

Tuesday 30 October 2012

Hello everyone! I hope you're all enjoying the half term holidays (i know i am). After running out of my usual deep conditioner, i thought i would try something different and change up my hair care routine up a bit. I purchased the James Brown London Photo Fabulous Intensive Treatment.

Sadly, i found this product very disappointing! It did absolutely nothing for my hair, except making it feel greasy and weighed-down.
I also noticed that the product had small particles of glitter mixed in it, which could be seen when the product is rubbed in your hands and hair. I guess that's to make your hair (as described on the packaging) "deliciously glossy". It certainly didn't achieve that effect for me.

The consistancy of the product is not very pleasant. It feels greasy and i found it made my hair feel heavy and full of product even if i used a small amount. It didn't de-tangle my hair, if anything it made it worse!
The products smell was okay but it didn't linger on my hair at all, which i thought was a let down.
For a 150ml tube it costs £8.49, which in all honesty is a complete rip off for what you get.
I wont be repurchasing this product again in the future! I'll just stick to the Aussie 3 Minute Miracle next time.

Hope you all enjoyed the review. If you have any other suggestions for deep conditioners please leave them in a comment below. Thankyou!

The Blogger Tag

Friday 26 October 2012

Hello everyone! I have a very different post today, i've been tagged by the wonderful Romy from BeautyholicRomy to do the Blogger Tag. I hope you enjoy!
(i might slip in a few random images just so it doesn't look so plain)

Firstly here are the rules:

  1. Each person tagged must post 11 random facts about themselves.
  2. They must answer the 11 questions posted by the previous blogger.
  3. They must create 11 more questions to ask their tagged bloggers.
  4. They must tag 11 bloggers with less than 200 followers.
  5. The bloggers must be told.
  6. No tag backs.
11 random facts about myself

I hate roast dinners, they make me feel sick.
I'm fascinated by serial killers and crime.
I want to study criminology at university.
Supernatural is my favourite tv series!
I hate people touching my belly button.
I believe in faeries.
I'm terrified of spiders D;
I always watch Edward Scissorhands on christmas day.
I love Studio Ghibli films.
I hate the sound of people chewing their food.
The Nintendo 64 is my favourite game console ever!

Romy's questions for me

Do you exercise or play sports at all?

I exercise once a week on a cross-trainer and also do sit ups to tone my stomach. I used to be in a cross-country and atheletics club in school but i don't play or take part in any sports now.

What do you normally drink on a night out?

I don't really drink many alcoholic drinks when i go out, i usually just drink coke. But if i am drinking something alcoholic it's usually a vodka and redbull.

What is your tried and true beauty product?

For me it's definately the collection (2000) lasting perfection concealer. It covers everything from dark circles to blemishes. If this product stops getting made i'll have no clue what to do! It's just so amazing!

What has been your favourite holiday destination and why?

My favourite holiday destination has got to be Floridia, it was such an amazing holiday! There was so much to do and see. My favourite part was swimming with manatees, they're so cute! :) I don't think any holiday since has topped it...yet.

Clowns, fun or creepy?

I've never found clowns creepy, even the ones from Killer Clowns form Outerspace! I found them fun when i was younger but now i'm not too fussed.

Petting zoo or safari ride?

Last time i went on a safari ride an elephant tried to charge into the car i was in. So for reasons of safety i'd pick a petting zoo, plus you get to stroke cute, fuzzy animals!

If you could only buy from one drugstore makeup brand for the rest of your life, which would it be and why?

I would choose Revlon because their colourstay foundation is amazing! I love their range of lipsticks and it offers the best quality for drugstore makeup, in my opinion.

Have you ever found a pair of high heels that were actually comfortable and if so what make were they?

Unfortunately so far i haven't! But i'm still searching. Maybe one day i'll get lucky!

What's your favourite Ben & Jerry's flavour?

This is an easy one, Half Baked. It just tastes so good! ( i wish i had some now)

Rollercoasters, yay or nay?

Nay, they terrify me!

If you could meet one person dead or alive who would it be?

This was a hard choice, but it would have to be Vincent Price. I think he was such an amazing actor and i've always wanted to meet him after watching House on Haunted Hill.

The bloggers i have tagged:

Style It With Me
Call Me Con Boy
Glitteralittle
Penny Favourites
Me and my Makeup
Beautee Beauty
Thrift O'clock
Lust Like Loathe
Shannon Woodfield
Dixieplumpixie
Anna's Polish Addiction

(I told you there would be random pictures)

Now here are my questions for you!
  1. What are your three biggest pet peeves?
  2. Chocolate or peanut MnM's?
  3. If you could only wear one nail polish brand for the rest of your life, which one would it be and why?
  4. What's your staple clothing item that always makes you feel confident whenever you wear it?
  5. Winter or summer?
  6. What's your favourite childhood film?
  7. What song always gets you on the dancefloor?
  8. Tea or coffee?
  9. If you could only shop in one highstreet store for clothing for the rest of your life, which shop would it be and why?
  10. Heels or flats?
  11. Which person has inspired you the most throughout your life?

Let me know if you do the tag and have fun!

Boots Essentials Cucumber Eye Make-up Remover Gel- Review

Hello everyone! I've got a bargain busting review for you all. Like many of us out there, i hate having to scrub ruthlessly at my eyes just to get my makeup off. But after wandering around the skincare isle in Boots i thought i'd try out some of their own products and ended up picking the cucumber eye make-up remover gel.

Simple and reasonably sized packaging. However the writing does rub off easily.

I've been using this product for about 2 months and it works amazingly well! It feels soothing and refreshing on the eyes (well, eyelids). It removes every trace of makeup (even waterproof mascara) after just a few swipes and my eyes feel pleasantly cool afterwards.
The scent is light and hardly noticeable. The consistancy of this product is light and slightly more liquified for a gel but i don't mind because a little goes a long way with this product.
For a 150ml bottle it costs £1.42. So if you don't fancy breaking the bank but want a good eye makeup remover, why not give this one a go.

Herbal Essences Beautiful Ends- Split End Protection Cream Review

Sunday 21 October 2012

Hello everyone! I'm back with another post and this time it's about hair, damaged hair to be more specific. Over the years i've subjected my hair to a lot rough and tumble from using hair straightners, curling irons and a whole lot of hair dye!
I've needed a good leave in conditioner for a while but everyone i've tried has left my hair feeling greasy and weighed- down. But i've found a solution to my problems. I've been using the Herbal Essences Split End Protection cream for over a month now and i'm loving the affect it has on my hair.
The packaging is sleek, simple yet eye-catching.

First of all this cream smells amazing! It reminds me of strawberry icecream. The smell also lingers in your hair for most of the day which i love and i never had that with previous leave in treatments.
I apply the cream to my hair after i've washed it while it's still damp but i also apply it to my hair during the day if i feel it needs reviving. It makes my hair feel so soft! It also tames frizz and makes my hair look glossy. One pump is all i need to cover the midlengths and ends of my hair. My hair doesn't feel greasy at all, even when applied to dry hair.

The cream is lightweight, absorbs quickly into the hair and doesn't leave a horrible greasy residue.
In Boots it retails for £4.79 for a 150ml bottle, it's definately worth the price and i'm probably going to get atleast another 2-3 months use out of it.
I'd recommend this product to anyone who uses alot of heat on their hair or to anyone who feels their hair just needs a pick me up.
If you have any other leave in treatments to recommend please let me know. Thankyou :)

Natural Collection Pink Mallow Lipstick Review

Friday 19 October 2012

Hello everyone! I've took the plunge and decided i would try out one of the Natural Collection lipsticks. When shopping in Boots i'm never one to have a mooch in the Natural Collection section, but after hearing so many nice things about their lipsticks i thought i would give one a go! After completely covering my hand in swatches i decided upon Pink Mallow.

This is a lovely cool-toned, nude pink colour, that is perfect for everyday wear.
Swatches will be below.

Bare lips
Wearing Pink Mallow

To me this lipstick is a "my lips but better" shade! Even though it's said to be a moisture shine lipstick, i find the finish is more satin which i personally prefer. It applies effortlessly and although it isn't drying i would recommend applying a lip balm beforehand because it doesn't offer any moisturising qualities. Also the longevity of this lipstick isn't amazing, you do have to reapply evey 2-3 hours but at a bargain busting £1.99 it's very pigmented and gives a great finish.
The packaging of this product is my only concern. When i picked up the lipstick from the shelf the lipstick felt very loose in the tube and i could hear it rattling in the tube. This may have just been the one i picked, but the lipstick hasn't broken so it can't be too bad ahaha!
I would recommend this lipstick to anyone whether you're on a budget or not.
