NOTW: Rita Ora X Rimmel 60 Seconds Nail Polish- Breakfast In Bed

Sunday 30 March 2014

Hello everyone! Happy Mother's Day! I hope everyone is well. Recently Rita Ora collaborated with Rimmel to bring out her own line of nail polishes and chubby lip pencils. I managed to get my hands on one courtesy of my lovely mom who picked one up for me during a food shopping trip to Asda. She knows I love anything that is pastel green or mint coloured so she picked up the shade Breakfast In Bed.

(The top picture shows the closet colour to how it looks in real life)

This polish is a gorgeous bright, mint green that has a blue under tone, with a slight shimmer. It's so unique and perfect for the spring season. I also think the packaging is very fun with the Andy Warhol style motif on the lid of the bottle, it's a quirky touch. I prefer the packaging of these compared to the Kate Moss range.
As with all the other 60 seconds nail polish this one doesn't dry in 1 minute it's more like 5 but that really doesn't bother me at all considering most makeup companies like to make outlandish claims for their products anyway.
The formula is great it applies smoothly, it's not overly streaky and is opaque in two relatively thin coats.
The lasting power is the same as the other 60 seconds polishes, it lasted around 4-5 days before I noticed any chipping.
The range of colours in the collection is fab from a pale pink to a bright turquoise, they will all see you through to summer. I can't wait try out some more polishes from the range and maybe pick up one of her lip pencils as well.
These polishes can be purchased from Boots for £3.69

Have you tried any of the Rita Ora X Rimmel polishes yet?

Rimmel Scandaleyes Rockin' Curves Macara Review

Wednesday 26 March 2014

Hello everyone! I'm not one for splashing out on a mascara, I'm usually pretty happy with buying a £1.99 mascara from Natural Collection because it gets the job done. I wish I'd saved myself the money and done just that when I purchased this offering from Rimmel.

I have to say I was very disappointed when I used this mascara. I heard the Scandaleyes range of mascaras had big wands but it's ridiculous! I have naturally pretty big eyes and this wand was just too big to use.
It makes application a nightmare, I ended up smearing most of the mascara on my eyelid than actually on my eyelashes. The curved shape also makes application a complete hassle because I have to contort my arm into weird shapes just to coat all my lashes. The effort is just not worth it for such a poor result.
It made my lashes clump together and I couldn't work the bristles into my lashes to separate them. It didn't add much curl, length or volume. I really didn't like this mascara and I will not repurchase it again. There goes my £6.99!
This mascara can be purchased from Boots if you want to try it for yourself.

NOTW: Rimmel 60 Seconds Nail Polish- Too Cool To Tango

Sunday 23 March 2014

Hello everyone! My nail polish obsession has recently took a U-turn back to bright, spring-like colours and the polish I'm about to share with you is no exception.

Firstly, I just want to apologise for the change in colour in the photos, the sun kept going in and out of the clouds when I took them (stupid British weather), the top picture shows the most realistic colour.
I bought this polish when I was in Boots buying a new moisturiser (review coming soon). I had my eye on it for a few weeks and finally decided to buy it because I don't have many blue nail polishes and it looked perfect for spring and summer.
The formula of the 60 second nail polish range is always amazing and consistent throughout the polishes. It applied evenly and was opaque with two coats.
It lasted around 5 days then I had some major chipping. But for £3.69 it's a bargain.
I can't wait now for Summer to roll around so I can wear some bright polishes.
This polish can be purchased from Boots .

The Reading Corner- Wonder

Wednesday 19 March 2014

Hello everyone! I recently finished another book, I have to say this one has definately been one of those easy reads.

The book is called Wonder. It's about a boy called August who's starting school for the first time in his life. He has been home-schooled for most of his childhood. Most children are nervous for their first day of school, it's a scary time after all. But August has another reason to be scared because he was born with a neurological dysfunction which caused him to be born with a deformed face.
Some children strive to stand out but August just wants to fit in.
It is told from the view of August, his sister, her boyfriend, her friend and two of August's friends.
This book definately opened my eyes to how judgmental and shallow people can be when they first lay eyes on a person. Most people place judgement on someone before they even get to know them. As the saying goes "Never judge a book by its cover". This book highlights this message throughout.
I found it to be such an easy read because the chapters were short and the writing was simple, yet effective.
This book is aimed more towards the teen age group, but I'd recommend giving it a read anyway.

NOTW: Nubar Nail Laquer- Risky Rose

Sunday 16 March 2014

Hello everyone! I hope you're all well. I can't believe how much sunshine the UK has got recently, the weather has been lovely. Hopefully it sticks around for a while. Although it seems like spring is round the corner I have recently been stuck in the winter colour palette for my nails. I've been looking for a rose-gold nail polish for a long time but I've never found one that I've liked until now.

It took me such a long time to find my perfect rose-gold polish because I'm so picky. I wanted a polish that was more rose than gold. Most rose-gold nail polishes tend to have a more gold or bronze tone to them which I find don't suit me at all.
Alas I found it! I was browsing Amazon for nail polish and found this one by Nubar, I've never heard of the brand before but the colour was perfect and I just couldn't resist snatching it up.
This quality of this polish is amazing, it applied smoothly, it was opaque in one coat but it was streaky because of the metallic finish, so I stick to two coats.
This polish lasted around 5 days until it started to chip around the edge of my nails.
I'd highly recommend trying out a Nubar nail polish for yourself. They can be purchased from Amazon

It's Skin Babyface Finish Beam Review

Wednesday 12 March 2014

Hello everyone! I recently purchased a new highlighter because my skin has been looking quite dull lately. I wanted a highlighter that's subtle but gives a nice glow to my skin and this one is right up my street.

Firstly how cute is the packaging?! I wish western beauty products had cute packaging like this. But then I'd have no money because I'd want to buy everything! Anyway the packaging is fairly sturdy there have been no cracking incidents (yet). The lid to this little compact is pearlescent  which I never noticed until I looked closely.
The embossed writing and cute little cherub looks adorable and it doesn't have a weird glittery coating, so you don't have to worry about it transferring on your skin.
The formula of this highlighter is very fine without being chalky or dusty, it also applies smoothly and evenly. As you can see the swatch is almost unnoticeable but on the skin it gives a subtle glow without looking like a disco ball. I was worried about trying a highlighting product because I have oily skin and didn't want to emphasise my shiny face. However, I received a lot of compliments wearing this, people told me I looked healthy and radiant. Bonus!
I purchased this product from ebay for around £3.90
I highly recommend trying this product out if you are just starting out with highlighters and don't want to go too overboard. There is also a golden shade too if you're not a fan of pink highlighters.

What is your current favourite highlighter?

NOTW: Barry M Silk Nail Polish- Heather

Sunday 9 March 2014

Hello everyone! I have another NOTW post because Barry M recently released a new Spring range of nail polish and I couldn't resist trying one out. I chose the purple shade from the range which is called Heather. I also purchased Truffle (nude shade) for my mom.

These polishes have a strange finish because they have the texture of a matte nail polish but with a pearlescent sheen. I don't own anything like it, it's very unique.
The formula is very thick and you could easily get away with one coat but I always apply two just to get a smoother finish. This polish lasted around 5 days before a couple of my nails chipped which is pretty good for only £3.99.
This polish is going to perfect for spring and summer because pastel nails never go out of style.
You can purchase this range from Boots and Superdrug.

Have you tried Barry M's new nail polish range yet?

The Reading Corner: Cold Killing

Thursday 6 March 2014

Hello everyone! I'm a bit late with my post because I was so busy yesterday I didn't have any time to write this post, better late than never! Last week I finished another book so it's time to share my thoughts with you all.

This novel is about Detective Inspector Sean Corrigan who's dark past helps him track down and put away any criminal and his success rate is high. But he meets his match when a string of gruesome murders occur and the killer is meticulous they're near impossible to catch.
I really enjoyed this book, I was hooked from the beginning, it's very near to the knuckle considering the opening chapter chucked you right into the middle of a murder. The writing is so creative and dark, Luke Delaney is such a fantastic author and immerses you straight into the action.
I honestly didn't suspect the murder to be who it was but as you get further through the book you'll pick up hints and it all falls into place. The writing is so clever and kudos to Luke for creating an amazing book. I highly recommend giving it a read.

What I Spent Sunday #3

Sunday 2 March 2014

Hello everyone, I hope you're all well. I have a fairly mini WISS post, there wasn't really anything I needed or wanted to buy this week but I thought I'd show you what I brought anyway.

There's always one faithful repurchase and that's the much loved Collection Pressed Powder in Ivory. I can't live without it! Since Boots are having a 3 for 2 offer at the moment I picked up some nail polishes which are the Miss Sport popfiction nail polish and the new Silk nail polishes from Barry M, I purchased the colour heather and I also brought the colour truffle for my mom because she loves nude shades. Finally I made a couple of Ebay purchases and brought a new face highlighter from an Asian brand called It's Skin, it's the baby face finish beam in the shade #1 pink beam (Buy Here ) and a highlighting brush to go with it (Buy Here ).
I hope you're enjoying these WISS posts so far. Stay tuned for more.

NOTW: Miss Sporty Nail Polish- Popfiction

Hello everyone! I have another NOTW post because me being the nail polish obssesive that I am recently purchased another nail polish (what a surprise). I've been wanting to try this polish for so long but I thought it wouldn't suit me. However Boots are currently having a 3 for 2 offer on their makeup, hair care and skincare so I thought I'd give it a go.

Surprisingly, I think this colour really suits my complexion. It's so bright and neon, this polish will be perfect for summertime when I have a bit more of a tan but it still suits me when I'm pale.
The formula is lovely, it applies very smoothly and dries fairly quick. This polish lasted about 4 days before it started to chip.
I really do love this polish except for the smell. I opened the bottle and was hit by a very strong smell, it's hard to describe but it kinda smelt like B.O and chemicals. It's disgusting!
I will keep wearing it but I may have to hold my breath next time.
This polish can be purchased from Boots for £1.99 .
