The Reading Corner: I Hunt Killers

Sunday, 30 June 2013

Hello everyone! I have a right page-turner for you all, which i have enjoyed reading immensely.
If you love reading criminal, thriller, psychological type books then you'll probably love reading I Hunt Killers too!

The blurb says " You're seventeen years old and your father is the most notorious serial killer America has ever produced. He brought you up. Taught you everything he knows. Everyone in your ordinary American town knows who you are. So even though Dear Old Dad is safely behind bars, when the killing starts all over again, you are the first person the police come to see....They don't know whether it's nature or nurture. And neither do you..."
Sounds thrilling right? I have to admitted i did neglected this book after about half-way through because i got so caught up with revision, school work and exams that i just didn't have enough time to sit down and really enjoy the book. However, as soon as my exams ended i picked it back up and got stuck right back in.
Even after taking a break from the book i still remembered almost all the story i'd previously read. As soon as i read one chapter, i wanted to read another and another until hours had passed. This book is truly gripping and thrilling!
Jasper (Jazz) the main character is complicated, an outsider and disconnected. However despite his upbringing and fears of becoming his father he manages to become the hero and save the day. Finding out who the serial killer was at the end truly surprised me, it definately wasn't the person i suspected. But i wont tell who it was, you're going to have to read the book to find out.

Boots Simply Sensitive Hydrating Eye Cream Review

Wednesday, 26 June 2013

Hello everyone! I have reviewed a few things already from the Boots Simply Sensitive range and i have another one for you today. I love this range of products, the products I've tried have been great and work well for my skin and the eye cream is no exception!

This is my second repurchase of this eye cream, so i guess it goes to show just how much i enjoy using it.
It claims to contain ingredients that moisturise, nourish and help to protect the skin around your eyes from environmental damage. It's also hypo-allergenic.
This eye cream definately keeps the skin around my eyes moisturised. It doesn't feel heavy, it sinks in quickly and my makeup sits well over the top of it. A little goes a long way, this eye cream usually lasts me a good 3-4 months.
I also really like the packaging, i'm not too fond of eye creams that come in a pot/tub because i don't find it very hygienic. Also it allows me to cut it open when i can't squeeze any more product out, so i can use it all up.
This is an all round good eye cream and for a bargain price of £3.49 -(Link Here) and Boots are currently having a 1/3 off offer you can't really go wrong. If you're on a budget and need a light-feeling and hydrating eye cream, i recommend giving this one a go.

What's your current favourite eye cream?

The Reading Corner: The Legend of Zelda Hyrule Historia

Friday, 21 June 2013

Hello everyone! I've finally finished sixth form and have broken up for the summer!  Anyway on to the post. If anyone knows me they will know that i'm a huge Zelda fan and have been ever since i played The Ocarina of Time (it's my favourite video game of all time). A couple of days ago my boyfriend surprised me with this book. He'd been hinting for a while about something he'd found that he knew i would like and oh boy doesn't he know me well (he's the best).

(These are pictures i have taken from the book itself with my camera)

Words cannot describe how happy i was when i received this, I've been after it for months but never had the money to buy it, but my sweet boyfriend surprised me with it instead. The gaming nerd inside me gets really excited when i read through this book, i'm definately going to buy a nintendo 64 in the very near future because i miss playing the games and they hold a lot of happy memories from playing them as a child.
This book shows all the hard work and dedication a team of artists, animators, producers, creators etc put in to create what i personally believe to be one of the greatest adventure game series ever made. Although i wasn't much of a fan of the Windwaker game. Most of the book consists of the concept art and annotations that were the basis for the games and how they were created and the inspiration for all the games. Also there's a short, but very well drawn and written comic at the end of the book.
There isn't really much else i can say about this book because you really have to be a fan of the Zelda game series to appreciate this book and the content within it.
If you are a fan of the Zelda game series then you'll definately love this book and i highly recommend picking it up for yourself.

What's your favourite Zelda game?

Nivea Smooth Nourishing Hand Cream Review

Sunday, 9 June 2013

Hello everyone! I hope you've had a great week. Mines been a bit hectic revising for my up and coming final summer exams. Anyway, enough about that, it's time to talk about yet another hand cream that I've been trying out. I think i'm going to write a post in the future dedicated to my favourite hand creams and this one will definately make an appearance.
In the UK our seasons have been very behind this year and due to the extended cold and unpredictable weather my hands have paid the price. Until i discovered this little gem in the body lotion isle of Boots.

This product has been a life-saver! Within a week of using it my hands were noticeably less dry, flaky and split open, yes my skin on my hands splits open and bleeds when they get too dry which becomes a huge problem when i want to use hand cream because i have to find one that wont make my hands sting or irritate them further. This Nivea hand cream is perfect for this.
It's lightly fragranced which did worry me a little trying it out because it's never a good idea to put scented products on broken skin. However, this one was fine , it didn't sting or irritate.
The consistency is light, it's not greasy and it doesn't leave a horrible sticky residue which some hand creams leave.
It claims to keep hands intensively moisturised even after frequent washing. I have noticed that my hands do still remain soft and smooth even after washing them throughout the day.
I'm still using it now because my hands are still slightly dry.
It can be purchased from Boots for £3.16 - Link Here

Sleek Mirrored Pink Blush Review

Wednesday, 5 June 2013

Hello everyone! I'm sharing with you today my thoughts on my current favourite blush which was mentioned in my Spring Favourites post- Link Here. It is the Sleek blush in Mirrored Pink which i won when i entered Jen's giveaway on her blog- Check out her blog here

Please excuse my terrible skin, exam session is stressful!

This is my first Sleek product that I've ever tried and i can safely say it doesn't disappoint. Sleek is known for having amazing blushes with great pigmentation and this one is no exception. It came out with the Aqua Collection so it's no longer available, but i'm sure it may still be hanging around on ebay or amazon. Or try out the rose gold blush which is a pretty close match and it's a permanent shade as well.
This has became my everyday blush, i just can't get enough of it. The shade suits my skin tone perfectly it adds just enough colour and warmth to my face without looking like I've been sprinting up a very steep hill. It is a warm toned pink with an orange under tone with  gold and pink shimmer running through it. The shimmer doesn't show up too much on the skin but it does give a healthy glow.
It lasts a long time as well for around about 5 hours on my skin before it starts to fade. I tend to go for powder blushes anyway because they last longer on my oily skin.
I can see this blush becoming a staple for me right through to summer. I may need to ease up on the use of it though. I don't want it running out too soon. It was limited edition after all.
I'm definately going to try out some more of Sleek's makeup, maybe an eyeshadow palette? If you have any recommendations please leave them as a comment below i'd love to know some of your suggestions.

Have you tried any Sleek blushes yet?

Seventeen Graffiti Nail Effects Review

Sunday, 2 June 2013

Hello everyone! I have been recently enjoying the new nail effects polishes that have been coming out and a particular favourite of mine is the Seventeen Graffiti nail effects. I have the colour/shade monochrome.

This is the finished effect with two coats.

Firstly, i really like the effect it gives, it looks like you've splashed black and white nail polish on your nails without the messy clean up. However, i don't really think this should be called a nail effect because it's pretty much like your typical glitter top coat with different sized and shaped particles ranging from large hexagons, to thin fibres to tiny flecks of colour.
It lasted for about a week on my nails with a top coat. I tried it without a top coat but the coating over the top of the larger shapes does start to peel off so i would use a top coat with this polish just to seal in the shapes better.
Overall i like the effect it gives on my nails it's fun and adds a nice touch to my nails without looking overdone.
It can be purchased from Boots for £3.99 there are two shades in the range Monochrome and Bluetone.
Have you tried this nail polish yet?
