Current Lipstick Love: Bourjois Color Boost Lip Crayon- Peach On The Beach

Wednesday, 28 August 2013

Hello everyone! As of last year Lip Crayons were a big craze in the beauty world with releases from Clinique, Revlon and Tarte to name a few. However i never jumped on the bandwagon until now. Bourjois have now released their lip crayon offerings to the beauty world and I'm hooked.

I picked up the shade Peach on the Beach just over a week ago because i was picking up a new foundation (which I'll be reviewing soon) and i noticed the shade was finally in stock after being sold out since they were released. There was only one left and i wanted to try them after hearing so many good things about them. This product has been my go to everyday lipstick since.
The shade is a perfect my lips but better. Although in the picture above of the swatch on my lips it looks very light. However in real life it looks amazing on.
The finish is very glossy, without being sticky or greasy. It's easy to apply and is perfect if your on the go, you can just swipe it over your lips and you're done.
It claims to last for 10 hours and is waterproof, those are big claims to make. Unfortunately it doesn't live up to the 10 hour claim because for me  it transfers very easily when I'm eating or drinking, so i do have to reapply it a few times throughout the day. I'd say it lasts only 2 hours maybe 3 at a push. I haven't tested the waterproof claim, but from how easily it comes off i doubt it would stay on my lips if i went swimming.
Overall I think this lipstick is a great product and i would buy more from the range, i currently have my eye on the orange punch shade.
They can be purchase from Boots for £7.99.

NOTW- Maybelline Color Show Nail Polish- Pow Green

Sunday, 25 August 2013

Hello everyone! I hope you're all well. I have another NOTW post for you today. I don't know if anyone else is like me but whenever i get a new nail polish i have to try it out straight away. Even if i only re-painted my nails the day before (is that bad?).
My mom (bless her, she's a good egg) picked up a couple of nail polishes for me because Boots were having a 3 for 2 offer on all Maybelline products. The first one i tried was Pow Green.

As you can see this colour is perfect for summer. This polish reminds of a darker, slightly more neon version of Topshop's Venus Fly Trap nail polish. So if you can't get your hands on that polish, this one is a great alternative.
I think this polish will suit many different skin tones, whether you're pale or tanned. The formula is okay, after the third day there was some minor chipping but nothing a quick cover up job wont fix. It dried fairly quickly and only requires two coats for an opaque colour pay off.
For only £2.99 the quality of these polishes is pretty good and i would recommend picking some up for yourself.

Have you tried any of the Maybelline Color Show polishes?

Garnier Intensive 7 Days Replenishing Body Lotion

Thursday, 22 August 2013

Hello everyone! I hope you're all well. I don't know about you guys but i for one love using body lotions and body butters. I just love how they make my skin feel so soft and smooth. I was on the look out for a new body lotion seeing as my Vaseline one had  ran out. I picked up the Garnier body lotion from Body Care- Haul Post Here. The fast absorbing claim was the thing that persuaded me to buy it.

Garnier claim this product locks in moisture with the help of the probiotic L-Bifidus, your skin will immediately feel softer and smoother and your skin is hydrated for 24 hours. They also claim that after 7 days of use your skin's quality will be dramatically improved : dryness -49%, roughness -25% and suppleness +26%.
Great claims right? But the proof is in the pudding. Yes my skin  immediately felt softer and smoother but pretty much an body lotion can have the same effect. My skin did feel hydrated throughout the day, it didn't feel rough or flaky. It also absorbed quickly into my skin due to it's light-weight, slightly watery texture.
I have used this body lotion for just over a week and honestly i haven't noticed a difference in my skin from the first day i used it.
I chose the mango oil scent which is specifically for dry skin, my skin isn't very dry at all but i preferred this scent over the only other option available  which was shea butter (i'm not a fan of shea butter scents, they're just too sickly for me). They do have many other options available catered to different skin needs. The mango scent is fresh smelling, not too overpowering and smells perfect for summer.
I like the packaging it's bright, sturdy and something a bit different compared to most body lotions.
I'm going to continue using this body lotion because for only £4.99 from Boots (it's cheaper if you go to a local Body Care) it does a decent job of moisturising my skin and smells nice too. But I'm always up for trying different products.

Mini Body Care Haul

Sunday, 18 August 2013

Hello everyone! I hope you're all well. Just a quick update before i get into the post. I got my A-Level exam results on thursday and I'm extremely pleased with my results. As of september i will become an official university student! That's so crazy to me, it's yet to sink in. I'm excited but very nervous all at once. I hope everyone else has got the exam results they were hoping for.
Anyway, moving on to the real reason I'm writing this blog post. On wednesday i had a doctor's appointment and on the way home i decide to take a little detour into town and pick up a few essentials i was running out of and possibly picking up some new products to try out as well. I stopped off at my local Body Care shop and the damage was done.

Sorry about the swatch that can be seen in these pictures, I'm planning on changing the colour of my room.

Garnier Body Lotion- £1.99

I picked this up because I've been looking to try out a new body lotion and i really liked the hand cream from this range so i thought I'd give it a go. I will have a review of my full thoughts of this soon, so keep an eye out for that.

L-R: Beauty Formulas Blackhead Control Facial Scrub-£0.99, Beauty Formulas Tea Tree Deep Cleansing Facial Mask-£0.99, Simple Kind To Eyes eye makeup remover-£2.19

I ran out of my Boots facial scrub and wanted to try something different because it wasn't doing anything for my skin anymore. So i picked up the Beauty Formulas facial scrub instead and for only 99p it's a bargain! As i said before i will be reviewing these products after testing them out first. Just keep your eyes peeled for them in future posts.

Nivea Caramel Cream lip butter-£1.49, Hygenics Antibacterial Hand Gel-£0.99

I finally picked up the Nivea lip butter after lusting over it for months, i put off buying it for so long because i had other lip balms to use up first. It smells delicious and makes my lips feel so soft. This product will probably make an appearance in a favourites post. I also needed a new hand gel so i grabbed this one because it was the only one in the shop. In honesty i don't like this hand gel, it smells disgusting! It smells so bad that it makes me feel sick when i use it. I'm probably going to get a different one from another shop and for 99p i wont feel too guilty for chucking it away.

Cotton Pads- £1.45, Cotton Buds-£0.69, Spa Cucumber Facial Wipes-2 for £1, Sudocrem-£2.29

Finally i purchased some essentials i couldn't live without. The sudocrem wasn't purchased from Body Care, along with the face wipes. I forgot i needed them until i left the shop and i couldn't be bothered to go back so i stopped off at Home Bargains and picked them up there instead.
Let me know if you'd like to see more haul posts and whether or not you like them

NOTW- Rimmel X Kate Moss Salon Pro Nail Polish- Reggae Splash

Sunday, 11 August 2013

Hello everyone! I have a quick post for you today showing you the nail polish i have been wearing over the past week. I mentioned this polish in my Summer Favourites- Link Here.
I have been wearing a nail polish from the Kate Moss Salon Pro collection in the colour Reggae Splash.

As you can see it is a pastel, yet slightly neon peach colour. It's a unique colour in my nail polish collection and looks great on pale or tanned skin.
Although this is from the Salon Pro collection it didn't last as long as my other polish that i own. This polish chipped within 3 days of wearing it which was disappointing. Maybe longevity is different between different colours? Who knows, but it did annoy me seeing as i wasn't doing anything  strenuous. I will continue to wear this polish because i love the colour and i want to try many more in the range. I've currently got my eye on a bright blue polish that i want to get my hands on.

Have you tried any of these polishes yet?

Summer Favourites

Sunday, 4 August 2013

Hello everyone! Although summer isn't over, it feels like it's finally ended in the UK with the persistent downpours and thunder storms. So i thought I'd give you a round up of the products I've enjoyed using over the past few months.

Top Row: L'Oreal Ever Pure Shampoo and Conditioner/ Soap and Glory Mist You Madly (Old Packaging)/ Davidoff Cool Water Wave perfume
Middle Row: Bourjois So Glossy nail polish- 04 Amande defile/ Barry M Confetti Nail Effects- Sour Apple/ Rimmel X Kate Moss Salon Pro nail polish- 705 Reggae Splash/ Rimmel Salon Pro nail polish- 247 Isn't She Precious?
Bottom Row: Dainty Doll lipstick- 002 Saucy Sailor/ Fearne Cotton eyeshadow palette/ Collection Cream Puff Lip Cream- Fairy Cake

Hair Care

During the summer i like to keep my hair as moisturised as possible because being out in the sun can dry out your hair. I have a full review of both these products- Link Here if you would like to know my full thoughts. Overall i like how this products make my hair feel and they have kept my hair in great condition since using them.

Fragrance

During the summer months i like to wear fragrances that are light and fresh smelling and these two have been stand out favourites in my perfume collection.
My mom actually gave me the Soap and Glory body mist a few months ago because she said she found the scent to sickly for her and i wasn't about to pass up a free fragrance so i happily agreed to have it and it didn't disappoint. It's fruity and sweet smelling which is my favourite kind of fragrance to wear all year round but i found it to be perfect for summer because it's not to overpowering.
Funnily enough my mom also gave me the Davidoff pefume aswell (she's so generous) I've found this to be the perfect daytime perfume for me. It is fresh smelling, not to sickly or sweet. It has a slight citrus smell which i like and it lasts pretty well on my skin. I'd highly recommend going and smelling it for yourself.

Nails

Reggae Splash/ Isn't She Precious?/ Amande Defile/ Sour Apple

I wore the bourjois polish and Barry M nail effects as a combo for most of the summer. I'm a big fan of green nail polish anyway (mainly because green is my favourite colour) but i thought this combination was so fun for summer that i wore it for a good month and a half! The lasting power of the bourjois nail polish wasn't great but with the glitter top coat the chips were hardly noticeable. The Barry M polish consists of thin strands of green and yellow fibres, it applied really well and lasted a good couple of weeks before i needed to patch my nails up.
I haven't been wearing the Rimmel nail polsihes long but from first impressions i knew they were going to be favourites of mine for a long time. I already have a post up about the pink nail polish- Link Here . The lasting power of these polishes are fantastic and the shades are perfect for summer, especially if you have a tan. I will have a post up soon about the orange shade, so keep an eye out for that! I can't wait to buy more shades from this range.

Eyes

I received this palette in a gift set for christmas and never thought much of it because I'm not very adventurous with my eyeshadow choices but one day i was swatching the eye shadows and the highlighting shade caught my eye straight away. I've been using it in my everyday makeup routine as an inner corner and brow highlight. The quality of the shadow is great, it blends in well, it's very pigmented without any fall out. It's an iridescent cream shade with a gold  shimmer running through it with a slight green tint to it which isn't  noticeable when blended in.

Lips

I haven't gone crazy with lip products for the summer because I've been keeping my makeup fairly light and minimal. But on those days where I've wanted to add some colour these have been my most reached for lip products.
The Dainty Doll lipstick has been my go to red lipstick for the summer, it's a blue-toned red with a glossy finish. The quality of this lipstick is amazing! It's highly pigmented, it glides on smoothly and lasts a good 4 hours until i have to reapply. I definitely want to try more Dainty Doll lipsticks.

I've had the Collection Cream Puff lip cream in my makeup collection since everyone went crazy for them a while ago. But when i first tried it, I wasn't a fan at all, i thought the colour didn't suit me, it was way too bright. However since I've had a bit of a tan and I've changed the way i apply this product, I've been converted. This is a perfect everyday shade to add a bit of colour to my complexion without being in your face. I like to wear it as a sheer wash of colour on my lips. It's matte without being drying, it smells delicious (kinda reminds me of doughnuts or cookies) and it lasts a really long time. I want to pick up the pink shade in this range.

 What are your summer favourites?
