Real Techniques Travel Essentials Brush Set Review

Monday, 29 September 2014

Hello everyone! I'm sorry this post is going up a day late but I had a major blogging cock-up and forgot to write a post for yesterday (big 'ole face palm). Anyway, moving on. I wanted to share with you some new makeup brushes that I've added to my growing collection.

I needed some new brushes to take with me on holiday (I will stop talking about my holiday soon, I promise) but I also needed a case/brush holder and the Travel Essentials Kit from Real Techniques pretty much ticked all my boxes.
I really like the packaging the case is sturdy enough to hold my brushes without them getting damaged during travel and it also folds into a nifty little brush stand, genius! I also love the colours of the brushes, it makes a change from the usual black brushes.
I only use two of the brushes from the set because I find foundation brushes that look like a paint brush don't work for me. Instead I gave it to my mom and she likes it, she said it's very soft.
I love the other two brushes though, they are fantastic quality! The multi task brush is my favourite, I love using it for applying bronzer because it's fluffy enough to blend the product into my skin seamlessly but it's also slightly squished so I can get into the hollows of my cheeks if I want to contour my face. It gets a big thumbs up from me!
Secondly is the domed shadow brush which I use for applying and blending eyeshadow out on the outer corner and crease of my eyelid. This brush is super soft which is essential because there's nothing worse than a brush scratching at the delicate skin on your eye. It blends eyeshadow out nicely and is a good size to allow more precision to stop me from bringing any colour out too far.
I love Real Techniques brushes. They was well and don't lose their shape or shed. They are so affordable and the quality is exceptional. I'm definatley going to be purchasing more, I've got my eye on the stippling brush. You can purchase these brushes from Boots or Amazon .

What is your favourite Real Techniques brush?

The Body Shop Tea Tree Night Lotion Review

Wednesday, 24 September 2014

Hello everyone! As you all know my skin has been going through a rough patch lately, so I've been trying to find products to clear up my skin. I've been using the Tea Tree Night Lotion from The Body Shop for almost 2 months and I've been really enjoying using it.

I started using this product in conjunction with the face wash from the same line (Review Here ) which I didn't get along with. However it's a completely different story with this lotion.
I love the packaging, the pump is great for distributing product, I hate sticking my finger in a pot and scooping product out. The bottle is pretty small though with only 30ml of product (it fits in the palm of my hand) which worried me because I thought it would run out fast but you only need a tiny amount of product to cover your face. My only gripe with the packaging is that I wish it was clear so I can see how much product I've got left because at the moment it's skincare Russian roulette!
I used this as a stand alone night-time moisturiser but I found that it wasn't moisturising enough. So, now I use it more like a treatment/serum on my troublesome areas to combat my blemishes and to reduce any redness on my face. After the first month of use I started to notice the redness has been fading and my blemishes have been getting smaller.
I find that it doesn't prevent more breakouts but it does soothe them and help to clear them up.
As with the other products from the tea tree line if you don't like the smell stay away from the products because it is quite pungent. But for me I like it. It smells clean and fresh.
If you have skin that's prone to breakouts, I highly recommend giving this a go as a treatment.
It can be purchased from The Body Shop for £9.

Have you tried the Tea Tree Night Lotion yet?

NOTW: Barry M Gel Nail Polish- Coconut

Sunday, 21 September 2014

Hello everyone! I feel like I haven't shared a nail polish post in ages, so that's happening today. I thought I'd share with you the nail polish I took away on holiday with me.

I opted for Barry M's Coconut nail polish because the colour goes with pretty much any outfit and looks great with a tan! The colour for me is a winner, it will look fantastic all year round because it's a lovely neutral shade and it's a good option if you don't like white nail polish and want something a bit more muted.
However, the formula is not so great, it chipped the day after I painted my nails and they were hefty chips as well! Normally I would have tidied my nails up but on holiday I just couldn't be bothered. I was very disappointed because all the other gel nail polish from Barry M that I own are fantastic. Maybe this one is the bad one of the bunch!
I love the colour but I can't see myself wearing this a lot purley because the formula is terrible.
I still recommend the gel nail polishes to everyone, maybe just steer clear of this one.
The gel polishes can be purchased from Boots .

The Reading Corner- The Bone Season

Wednesday, 17 September 2014

Hello everyone! I've been dying to share this book with you since I got back from my holiday because I think this is my favourite book of the year so far!

I know that's a bold statement to make considering 2014 isn't over yet. But this book is amazing! I'm so sad I've finished it!
Forget The Fault In Our Stars or Gone Girl it's all about The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon.
I can't believe how quickly I read it, I was finished in 2 weeks but admittedly I did ration my reading time because I didn't want to finish it, I would pick it up and say to myself that I'd only read a couple of chapters and then 2 chapters turns into 6!
The Bone Season is about a Clairvoyant named Paige Mahoney she works for a secret group in the criminal underworld of Scion London, the year is 2059 and clairvoyants are deemed unnatural, Paige is committing treason just by breathing. But her unnaturalness becomes her only means of survival when she ends up in Sheol I, where she must pass a series of tests and try and get back to London.
I love this book! The story is fantastic, it's gripping, fast-paced and addictive to read. Samantha Shannon gives the distopian novels a refreshing twist by combining fantasy and a thrilling element.
Paige is a clever, witty and courageous character, she's like Katniss Everdeen but better because she's a dream walker (such a cool name).
I think I have such a love for this book because I'm a very spiritual person with strong beliefs in clairvoyants, spirits, life after death etc. Not to mention the emotional investment I have for two characters, I ship their relationship (if you've read the book you'll know who I'm talking about)!
The only bad thing about this book is that I've got to wait till January for the second one! Why Samantha Shannon? Why? Nevertheless, I can't wait!
If you like fantasy or distopian style books you will love this one!

What book have you read recently!

The Body Shop Tea Tree Cool and Creamy Face Wash Review

Sunday, 14 September 2014

Hello everyone! Recently my skin has been flaring up with insane breakouts and I needed something to sort it out. I decided to revamp my skincare routine to help combat my spots. Tea tree works great on my skin to clear it up. I've been using it since I was about 13. I've never tried any skincare products from The Body Shop and this seemed like the perfect opportunity.

I picked up two things from their Tea Tree line, the cool and creamy face wash and the night lotion (review coming soon). I wanted to try the face wash after Essiebutton praised it for making your skin feel clean without drying it out. It sounded perfect. However, that wasn't the case for me.
Firstly the packaging is lovely, it's slim, compact and comes in a squeezy tube (very hygienic). I also love the smell, tea tree oil always smells clean and fresh. But if you don't like strong smells you won't like this because it is a little overpowering.
On the outside it's great. It's just the product inside that doesn't work for me. The texture of the face wash is very creamy to the touch so I assumed it would spread nicely over my skin but it didn't. It just seemed to gather in clumps on my face and I ended up losing most of it in the sink from where it kept falling off my face. I had to use a lot of product to cover my whole face and it didn't lather up at all, no matter how much I rubbed my face which resulted in me looking like a tomato. This product only lasted me about 3 weeks from using it twice a day which was a real disappointment. Face washes usually last me a good month and a half to two months depending on how much product I need.
The face wash did leave my skin feeling soft but for the price (£5) and the quality from The Body Shop is usually good, I wasn't impressed and won't be repurchasing it. However I do like the night lotion from the range and would repurchase it. You'll have to wait for a new post to find out more.

Have you tried any skincare products from The Body Shop?

My Trip to Fuerteventura

Wednesday, 10 September 2014

Hello everyone! I hope you're all well and I hope those of you who are back at school settled in okay. I've been absent from my blog for a little while because I spent a week in Fuerteventura with my wonderful boyfriend. It was so nice just to get away and relax for a while.
This post is going to be very photo heavy because I wanted to share a few (more like a lot) snaps that I took during my time there.

I did warn you that there was going to be a lot of pictures! These are condensed down as well!
Firstly the large statue of a female warrior was the entrance to Baku Water park which was an amazing day, I love water slides!
The main bulk of my photography skills were put to use at Oasis Park which is a nature park on the opposite end of the island (i was staying in Corralejo). I like going to animal parks/zoos because you get to see animals that you wouldn't normally see everyday but at the same time I feel sorry for them because they should be in the wild (double-ended sword?). I also got to feed lots of the animals there including the zebras, hippos, giraffes and elephants to name a few! It was an amazing experience, my boyfriend videoed me feeding them but I'm yet to get the footage from him!
The nature park also had a huge botanical garden filled with cacti and succulents, it reminded me of coral reef but without the water ( i know that sounds crazy, but just trust me) it was so big we ended up getting lost!
The day before we were due to fly home we went on a mountain buggy tour. I look a bit of a mess but I was very windswept! It was such a fun day, my bum was sore though from all the rocks and bumps in the road. Also I have to give credit to the photographer who took the picture of us in the buggy, his pictures were fantastic quality! During the tour we stopped off at a cute little restaurant which had a little paddock filled with cute donkeys, one of them was fast asleep (too cute).
The last bunch of photos were taken around the area we were staying in, our hotel was right next to the habour and you could see Los Lobas Island from our balcony!

I hope you enjoyed this post, I had such a wonderful time on holiday and can't wait for my next one!
