Firstly I'd like to apologize for the fluff on some of the pictures, the clear bags just attract so many bits, even when you wipe them off!
As with all my other posts my theme has been simplicity, I hate bringing loads of makeup and end up only using half of it.
I like to keep my makeup base light so I opted for a BB cream instead of a foundation and I can use my concealer for any areas that need a bit more coverage.
I have to powder my face because I have oily skin and my makeup would just slide off in a matter of minutes. I had to bring along a blush and bronzer to perk up my complexion and the bronzer will help me match my face to my body once I get a bit more tanned.
I'm bringing along my favourite eye makeup products at the moment, the trio from NYX will be perfect for a neutral eye look ( i forgot to include my eyeliner but I'll be taking the collection fast stroke eye liner with me). Of course I'll need a waterproof mascara just in case I end up going in the pool or the sea.
My selection of lip products are also very minimal, I just wanted products that will enhance my natural lips and bring a bit of colour to my face. I love the butter gloss from NYX it's glossy without being sticky and it smells delicious!
Lastly I can't forget my makeup brushes, or else my makeup will look a mess!
I hope you've enjoyed my travel essentials series, I had a lot of fun writing them. The posts were like my own checklists!

Travel Essentials- The Bare Necessities

Friday, 15 August 2014

Hello everyone! We're up to the penultimate post in my travel essentials series. I hope you've been enjoying them!

Original Source Vanilla and Raspberry Shower Gel

 Venus Pro Skin Razor

 Mitchum Advanced Solid Deodrant

 Listerine Total Care Mouthwash

 BIC Soleil Shaving Gel

Soap and Glory The Daily Smooth Body Butter

 Colgate Max Fresh Toothpaste

Colgate Toothbrush

 Steripod

Imodium Instants, Asda Plasters, Ibuprofen, Dioralyte

Soltan Suncream

These are the products are things that I need to make me feel like a normal, functioning human being!
Essentially, it's my hygiene routine. With that being said I won't go into too much detail because you all know what these products are used for and how to use them.
However, I will share a few recommendations with you.
Firstly, always put a Steripod (can be purchased from Amazon ) on your toothbrush. They're an amazing invention. They clip around your toothbrush head, they not only protect the bristles in your suitcase but they also contain a compound that kills the bacteria on your toothbrush. I use these even when I'm not on holiday because the bathroom is not a very clean place, especially when toilet flushing is involved!
I also like to bring along medication, you never know if you might get food poisoning and it's better to treat it quickly rather than faffing at the local pharmacy when your abroad. Also bring a few plasters, just in case you get blisters or cut yourself, you just never know. If you have an allergies such as hay feverdon't forget those tablets too.
If you're going somewhere hot don't forget your sun protection. Preventing sun damage is better that treating it.
Also bring along some wet wipes, for when you want to keep fresh down there. Trust me, you'll thank me later.
I know this post was a bit short but I hope you enjoyed it nonetheless.

Thank you for stopping by!

Travel Essentials - Hair Care

Wednesday, 13 August 2014

Hello everyone! This is the second installment of my travel essentials series and we're moving onto hair care.

 Tresemme Colour Vibrance Shampoo

 Charles Worthington Colour Enhancer Conditioner

 Charles Worthington Colour Protection Spray

 Batiste Tropical Dry Shampoo

 Tresemme Hair Spray

 Trevor Sorbie Colour Enhance Oil

 Shaun The Sheep Tangle Teezer

 Denman Teasing Brush

Toni and Guy Sea Salt Spray (will be decanted)

As with my skincare, my hair care routine is also kept pretty simple. I don't really do much with my hair on holiday. I tend to just throw it up into a bun or make a fish-tail braid to keep it off my face. There's nothing worse than being smothered by your hair in a hot country!
As you can see I went on another travel-sized products frenzy, but these products will last me the week, there's nothing a dread more than over-packing!
When it comes to shampoo and conditioner I'm not too fussy as long as they protect coloured hair, I chose these from Tresemme and Charles Worthington. They don't match but they were the only ones left in the Boots in my town.
When I was looking at all the travel products I found this 2 in 1 product from Charles Worthington which is a protection spray for your hair to shield it from the sun and sea and it has built in heat defence spray, this little gem saves me bringing more products.
My hair gets so dry on holiday because of the heat, chlorine and sea water so I'm bringing a long a leave in treatment. I picked up this one from Trevor Sorbie mainly because it had a pump which allows more control when your using a hair oil. It also helps to seal in hair colour. Can you see a trend forming? It's all about colour maintenance for me, especially because it's bright red.
I'm also going to decant some of my sea salt spray into a smaller bottle to create effortless beachy waves. My hair naturally curly, so this will help to enhance that. But if you are not blessed with curly hair then I have a quick tip for you; plait your hair before you go to bed it doesn't matter if it's damp or dry (it usually holds longer in damp hair), spray some sea salt spray lightly into your hair before and after you plait it, leave it overnight and when you take it out in the morning you'll have lovely, tousled beach waves.
Of course I can't forget dry shampoo to keep my hair looking fresh and clean and hair spray to keep my hair style in place.
Finally I'll be throwing in some spare hair ties and hair pins, just in case I lose any on the trip.
We're at the halfway point in my travel essentials series. Only two more to go!

What is your holiday haircare routine?

NOTW: Barry M Gelly High Shine Nail Polish- Damson

Sunday, 10 August 2014

Hello everyone! I hope you're all well. I've recently been enjoying wearing very bright nail polish to go with my tan. I was shopping in Boots just picking up a few things for my holiday and I couldn't resist checking out the Barry M stand. I was browsing around and kept getting drawn back to this one polish called Damson.

It's a bright cornflower blue shade which is perfect for summer with a neon dress or top.
As usual the application is on point, the polish applies evenly and is opaque in two coats. The drying time is pretty average, I usually wait about 10 minutes between each coat.
The only problem I had with this nail polish is that it chipped very quickly, by the second day I had a massive chip on my right index finger, which surprised me considering all my other polishes from this range have lasted ages. Maybe I picked up a bad one?
Overall I love the colour and will continue to wear it, I hope that chipping incident was a one off.
I highly recommend giving these polishes a go because the range has a fantastic selection of colours. This polish can be purchased from Boots .

What is your favourite gel nail polish from Barry M?

Travel Essentials - Skincare

Wednesday, 6 August 2014

Hello everyone! Soon I'll be jetting off to spend a week in Fuerteventura. I can't wait, this holiday has been long overdue!

Transparent bag from Amazon  .

 Boots Vitamin Eye Cream

 Eucerin Sun Fluid

Simple Kind To Skin Soothing Toner, Simple Kind To Eyes Eye Makeup Remover

The Body Shop Tea Tree Night Lotion

The Body Shop Tea Tree Cool & Creamy Wash

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water, Simple Light Moisturiser (Both products will be decanted into a travel bottle and jar)

When it comes to skincare on holiday I like to keep it simple and stripped right back to basics. This helps me keep below the pesky luggage limit and I know my skin won't freak out using these products, no one likes having a spotty face on holiday.
Seeing as I'm only going away for a week I picked up a lot of travel sized products. I love miniatures of products, they're just so cute! Some of my products aren't travel sized but they don't take up too much room anyway.
I'm bringing a cleansing water because it will feel so refreshing in a hot climate, I haven't been using the Garnier cleansing water for very long but my skin seems to like it.
All the rest of the products are part of my usual skincare routine so my skin will be happy.
Finally you can't forget your suncream for the face. Anti-aging prevention should start as soon as possible as sun damage is one of the main factors that causes premature skin aging. I picked this one up from Eucerin which is perfect for oily skin, it mattifies the skin and doesn't block the pores.
I'll also be bringing cotton pads and buds and a pack of face wipes, they haven't been featured in the pictures because I'll be packing them closer to the day that I leave.
I hope you enjoy my first travel essentials post. There will be more to come before I go away.
