NOTW: Barry M Limited Edition Nail Polish- Bikini

Sunday, 29 June 2014

Hello everyone! I hope you're all well. Recently I was given a nail polish from Barry M that you got for free if you spent something like £7 or more on Barry M products. There was a choice of two colours a purple and a bright coral. Seeing as I don't have many purple polishes I would pick up another one to try out.

The polish looks blue in the top picture but I can assure you it's a bright purple (like the middle picture).
I wasn't sure if I was going to like this polish or not but I think it looks lovely with a tan.
It applied smoothly, dried pretty quickly and was opaque with two coats.
It lasted almost a whole week on my nails before it started to chip at the edges, which is the longest a nail polish has lasted on my nails.
I also love the packaging, the cute love heart lid is adorable!
The only problem I have with this polish is the smell, it smelt disgusting! I can't even describe it but it definately didn't smell like nail polish that's for sure.
However, I can get over the smell because the formula is amazing.
I would highly recommend piking one up next time your at the Barry M stand.

Have you tried the limited edition polish yet?

The Reading Corner: The Bone Bed

Friday, 27 June 2014

Hello everyone! I finished this book a while ago and was humming and awwing about whether or not I should share my thoughts. Yet, here we are so I'd better get on with it.

I was given this book by my mom after she'd read it. It was being advertised as a gripping thriller and one the best crime novels ever. I have to completely disagree with these claims.
The Bone Bed is about a Chief Medical Examiner called Kay Scarpetta who receives an inbox featuring a gruesome photo of a severed ear. Kay must find the sender of the email and also deal with more murders coming her way, but are they linked?
Don't get me wrong the story line sounds great but the execution of it ruined it for me.
The writing was so long-winded and it waffled on too much about Kay's career rather than the murder investigation. I know crime thrillers aren't always about the killer but I just didn't find Kay's character interesting. Even when the crime was solved the ending was very anti-climactic.
It took me so long to finish this book and I didn't look forward to reading it at all.
I don't think I will read another book from the Kay Scarpetta series, especially if they're as long winded as this one.
Also if you've read this book and enjoyed it, please don't take my opinion to heart, these are just my thoughts.

Have you read The Bone Bed yet?

The Reading Corner- The Fault In Our Stars

Monday, 23 June 2014

Hello everyone! I'm sorry for my absence yet again, I decided to take a break from blogging for a little bit just brain storming ideas and getting back into the swing of things. Anyway, I've finished another book during my break and I'm sure it's no surprise to anyone at the moment because The Fault In Our Stars has recently hit the big screen and everyone and their mother is going crazy about it!

I've been dying to read this book since it first came out which was 2 years ago! But with my huge back log of books to read already it took me a while to get round to it. It was worth the wait. I'd heard this book was good but it's astonishing!
I won't go into the background about this book too much because you can go on tumblr and find a gif set that sums it up already. It's about two cancer sufferers who unexpectedly fall in love during very difficult and uncertain circumstances, there's romance, comedy and heartbreak all rolled into one.
The writing of this book is faultless, John Green you have outdone yourself! This book actually made me cry and I don't mean a few weeps and a couple of tears. I mean full on balling my eyes out, sobbing and panda eyes at the end of it. Goodness knows what I'll be like when I watch the film!
If you haven't read this already and I highly doubt it if you haven't, go and pick it up and read it. I warn you though, you will probably cry just like I did.

What do you think of The Fault In Our Stars?

Spring Favourites 2014

Sunday, 15 June 2014

Hello everyone! It seems that summer has finally arrived in England so it's time for me to share my favourite products that I've been using last season.

 Makeup

Seventeen Stay Time Concealer- I purchased this concealer when my beloved collection one was out of stock in my local Boots, I had a bit of a panic thinking this concealer wasn't going to be very good. I was pleasantly surprised, this concealer is creamy, very moisturising and is the perfect colour match for my skin. I won't go into too much detail because I'm going to be posting a full review soon!

Sleek Pout Polish: Powder Pink- I won't go into much detail with this one because I have a post all about it (Review Here ). This has been my go to, no fuss, everyday lip colour. It looks pretty, smells amazing and brightens up my complexion.

Revlon Lip Butter: Sorbet- For those days when I've wanted a brighter lip colour I've been reaching for this. It looks lovely on the lips, kind of like you've just eaten an ice lolly and it's stained your lips. It applies smoothly and lasts a long time. I need to buy more of them!

Maybelline 24HR Colour Tattoo: Pink Gold- As you can see from the huge hole in the middle of the pot I have been loving this product, I think it's my favourite out of all the makeup products I used last season! I've been using it as a all over lid colour when I've been too lazy to make an effort with my eye makeup (which is most days). It's a gorgeous champagne pink colour that really brings the colour of my eyes. I think pink looks great with green eyes and adds a fresh look, which I thought was perfect for the spring time. I highly recommend picking it up if you haven't already.

MUA Undress Your Skin Highlighter- This is a very recent favourite and a rediscovery. I completely forgot I had this and I'm so glad I found it. For such a cheap highlighter the colour and application is amazing. It adds a lot of highlight to the skin so you have to be light-handed when applying it. I never used to understand the hype around highlighters but since introducing them into my makeup routine I wouldn't be without them. They add such a healthy glow to the skin. Unfortunately the colour is not being picked up in the picture below (the lighting was awful) but it's a gorgeous pink, champagne shade. If you're just starting out with highlighters maybe give this one a go.

Top-Bottom: Seventeen Stay Time Concealer-extra fair/ Sleek Pout Polish- Powder Pink/ Revlon Lip Butter-Sorbet/ Maybelline 24HR Colour Tattoo- Pink Gold/ MUA Undress Your Skin Highlighter

Nails

L-R: Barry M Gelly Nail Polish- Prickly Pear, Rita Ora X Rimmel 60 Seconds Nail Polish- Love Your Lingerie, Barry M Gelly Nail Polish- Sugar Apple, Rimmel 60 Seconds Nail Polish- Caramel Cupcake

During the spring I'm always drawn to pastel polishes and these for have been my favourite, well except for caramel cupcake that has been my go to nude shade for spring. If you love pastel nail polishes I highly recommend checking these out!

Skincare

The Face Shop Real Nature Mask:Blueberry- Sheet masks have been a new addition to my skincare routine, I've only just started using them about a month a go. They are extremely popular in Asia and I can see why. I picked up this one from The Face Shop and after using it my skin feels so soft. They do feel strange when you first put it on, it's quite slimy. I know that sounds gross but afterwards your skin will thank you. I'm definatley going to try out more sheet masks because they are doing something good for my skin.

Good Things Blemish Control Gel Mask- I won't go into much detail with this one because I also have a post all about it (Review Here ). This mask has been a god send for my skin during the spring and all year round. It helps to reduce the size and redness of my spots and keeps them at bay. If you suffer with breakouts and want a good spot-fighting mask on a budget give this one a go!

Body

Soap and Glory Pulp Friction Body Scrub- Yet again I already have a post dedicated to this product (Review Here ) . This is probably my favourite body scrub of all time, everytime I use it my skin always feels soft and smooth. It is quite abrasive so if your skin is sensitive you might not like this product. If you can get your hands on Soap and Glory products I recommend trying this out.

Hair

VO5 Give Me Moisture Shampoo and Conditioner- I've been using this combination throughout spring and I'm still using it now. These products make my hair feel so soft. They smell amazing and they are super cheap! If you have damaged or very dry hair I'd give these a go because they are fantastic products.

It's Alright, But It's Not Great- Maybelline The Rocket Volum' Express Mascara

Wednesday, 11 June 2014

Hello everyone! About a month ago I changed up my mascara. I decided to try out the much loved "The Rocket" from Maybelline.

I had high expectations for this mascara because of the hype surrounding it. Sadly, it didn't live up to those expectations. I just thought it was okay, it wasn't terrible but it wasn't amazing either.
It separated my lashes nicely, although it did make my outer lashes slightly clumpy by the second coat. It added a little bit of length, and a bit of volume.
The big downside to this mascara is that it smears like crazy on my brow bone. I've never had that problem with mascara before, even from a £1.99 mascara and for £7.99 I was pretty annoyed.
Overall, I just wasn't blown away by this product, it was okay but I've used cheaper mascaras that are much better.
I won't be repurchasing this mascara anytime soon and will be trying out something new and hopefully much better.

Have you tried this mascara yet?

NOTW: Seventeen Gel Nail Polish- Razberrito

Sunday, 8 June 2014

Hello everyone! I hope you're all well. Since the weather has been warming up and the sun has been shining my choice of nail polish has changed yet again and I've been leaning more towards bright polishes that will look great with a summer tan.

The polish looks red in the pictures but it's actually a dark pink, raspberry colour. It does have a hint of red but in real life it is a pink polish.
I don't have many pink polishes in my collection, mainly because I'm not a fan of pink polishes, I just don't think they suit me at all. However because this polish has a red undertone it looks lovely and bright on the nails. It's going to look great in the summer with a tan.
This formula of this polish didn't last very long though, it chipped like crazy within a couple of days of wearing it, which was disappointing considering the other two polishes I have from this range last a long time. You win some, you lose some I guess.
I would still highly recommend checking out the gel range from Seventeen because the colours are fantastic.
You can purchase this polish from Boots for £3.99 .

What nail polish have you been wearing this week?

Soap and Glory Pulp Friction Review

Wednesday, 4 June 2014

Hello everyone! Firstly, I'd like to apologize for my lack of posting for the past week. I've been so busy I've barely had time to think about blogging let alone sit down and write a post. Anyway enough excuses, on with the post!
Soap and Glory are very well-known and well loved for their bath and body products, especially their body scrubs and Pulp Friction is my absolute favourite out of all of them.

First of all this stuff smells amazing! It definately smells fruity and delicious kind of like a sugary fruit drink.
I love the packaging, the bright pink tube is girly and fun and is very practical when taking a shower because there has been many a time where I've dropped a tub of body scrub and it's gone everywhere! Not anymore!
The exfoliating element of this scrub is fantastic, after using this my skin always feels extremely soft and smooth. It's also great at stopping any pesky in-grown hairs. The scrub does foam up a little bit but not as much as I was expecting, it is quite abrasive, so if you have sensitive skin you might not like this product.
I'm definately going to repurchase this again but I do want to try the breakfast scrub because I've heard that it smells amazing.
You can purchase this scrub from Boots for £8.00 .

What is your favourite Soap and Glory body scrub?
Thank you for stopping by!
