Macadamia Oil Extract Hair Treatment Review

Sunday, 27 April 2014

Hello everyone! I finally finished my Inecto hair serum ( Review Here ) which as you all know I was not a massive fan of it but I think I've found something that I hate more.

I know a lot of people don't like reading negative posts, but I would rather steer you clear of something that is not a good product and save you a few pennies (99 pennies to be exact).
I brought this hair oil on a whim in Body Care when I was buying some dry shampoo, I knew my Inecto hair serum was on it's last legs so I picked this one up to try out.
I completely regret buying it, I know it's less than a pound but I could have used that money to put towards something better like a nail polish or a blusher.
The first and biggest problem is the packaging it comes in a 50ml, plastic bottle that doesn't have a stopper or any way of controlling how much product you pour out. You are advised to use 3-4 drops, I create those drops because it doesn't have a pipette. It's messy and wasteful, no matter how careful I am, I still pour out too much product then I have to try and get the excess back into the bottle. I'd rather pay a bit extra and get something with a pump.
The other problem is the formula, it's far too heavy for an oil. I have thick, curly hair and this product weighs it down and my style just goes limp and flat. If you have fine hair, I'd steer clear of this completely. Due to the formula being so thick it also makes my hair feel greasy, even at the ends. I haven't noticed any smoothing or nourishing benefits from this hair oil.
I definately won't be repurchasing this again and I don't recommend it to anyone, save your money and buy something better!

Spotty Skin Savior

Wednesday, 23 April 2014

Hello everyone! Have you ever had one of those days where your skin clearly doesn't want you to look acceptable and you shouldn't venture outside at any cost? Yes, well I've been having a bad skin week! My skin has been breaking out constantly for a few weeks now, I think it's due to me stressing over my university exams that are coming up. Luckily, I've found a product that has been helping fight my pesky spots and clear my skin right up.

I've had the Good Things 3 In 1 Blemish Control Mask for a while and used it occasionally when I had a bad skin day but now that my skin is going crazy I use it 2-3 times a week and it has really helped my skin calm down.
I like the packaging of this product, it comes in a purple tube with dark purple writing which is much more fun than the usual white tubes of many other brands.
When I first used this product I was very skeptical about how it was going to perform, when I put it on my face immediately started tingling like crazy! There was no burning sensation but it definately felt weird. If you have very sensitive skin be very cautious when using this mask as it may irritate your skin. After a few uses the tingling went away. I think the witch hazel was the culprit for causing the tingling sensation.
The mask is a clear gel which  I found unusual, I've never used a clear mask before but I like the concept. You could use on a plane and it wouldn't be too noticeable.
This mask contains witch hazel and willow bark (a natural source of salicylic acid) and these ingredients have been working wonders at reducing the size and redness of my spots. The day after I've used this mask there's a noticeable difference to my skin.
This mask also smells very strongly of witch hazel, if you're not a fan of that scent you might not like this, but I think the results out weigh the scent.
If you have oily, spot-prone skin I'd highly recommend giving this mask a go.
You can purchase this product from Boots for £4.99 .

The Reading Corner: Gone Girl

Sunday, 20 April 2014

Hello everyone! Happy Easter! I hope you're having a great day and don't get too sick from eating loads of chocolate. I can't believe I've finally got round to reading this book and now that I've finished it I'm sad, I really wanted the story to keep going. If you've read the book yourself you'll know why.

It took me a while to get round to reading this because firstly my mom was reading it and she was dragging out that process because she didn't want the book to end either and I had lots of other books lined up to read as well. However, I finally managed to get my hands on it and it did not disappoint!
I can't even put into words how good this book is, it's about Amy Dunne who goes missing on her fifth wedding anniversary and the fingers are all pointing towards her husband Nick, with so many clues leading to him being the culprit, it's a test for the reader to figure out who did it.
My hunch while reading it was right on the money. I won't give you my theory because it will just be one huge spoiler!
The writing of this book is phenomenal, Gillian Flynn knows how to write a serious and gripping thriller. It's a completely faultless and flawless book. I really didn't want it to end when I got to the last page I was gutted, not by the ending but knowing that it was finished (i hope she writes a sequel). I urge you all to read it at least once, you won't regret it!
I honestly can't praise this book enough and I can't wait to read her other books 'Dark Places' and 'Sharp Objects'.

Have you read Gone Girl yet?

Miss Sporty Fabulous Lash (Curved Brush) Mascara Review

Wednesday, 16 April 2014

Hello everyone! As you can all probably tell from my previous mascara reviews I love a good, cheap mascara and I think I've found another one to add to my collection.

 (The result after 2 coats)

I picked up a new mascara from Miss Sporty when I was out buying food for me and my younger brother while I was babysitting him during the weekend. I chose it mainly because it was on offer for £1.99 so it wouldn't break the bank if I didn't like it. But luckily for me I do like it!
The packaging is simple yet bold, I can easily spot the bright red tube in my makeup bag.
The wand is a curved, conical shape made of synthetic bristles. I like the shape of it because it allows me to get to the lashes in the inner corner of my eye without smearing everywhere.
The formula is nice, it's thick without being clumpy and dries pretty quickly as well.
This mascara adds a nice amount of curl and definition to my lashes to give a fluttery effect that is perfect for everyday wear. It holds a curl nicely too, even at the end of the day when I'm ready to take my makeup off my lashes are still curled, then again I do have naturally curly lashes, so I don't know how it will fair for girls with straight lashes.
I have really enjoyed using this mascara and would repurchase it again.
This mascara can be purchased from Boots .

MUA Matte Perfect Primer Review

Sunday, 13 April 2014

Hello everyone! I hope you're all well. Recently my makeup has been sliding off my face due to the warmer weather so I've had to call in reinforcements in the form of a face primer. I raided my makeup stash and found a cheap and cheerful one from MUA.

I've been using this primer on and off for almost a month and I'm enjoying using it. The packaging isn't anything fancy just a small, white tube with a black and pink font. I was expecting anything fancy though because it's so cheap.
The primer itself is a peachy colour that disappears once rubbed in. It has a silicone texture which gives the appearance of minimised pores. It doesn't make my pores look smaller but it does allow my makeup to go on smoother and holds it in place for a good 2-3 hours longer than usual.
The one downside to this product is that it does feel slightly greasy which is very nice when you have naturally oily skin. But other than that it works pretty well.
I  don't think i'll be purchasing it again yet because I want to try the new matte primer from Rimmel.
It can be purchased from the MUA website for £4 .

Simple Clear Skin Oil Balancing Moisturiser Review

Wednesday, 9 April 2014

Hello everyone! I've recently changed up my moisturiser due to the weather getting warmer and consequently my skin is getting oilier (oh joy). I wanted something that was light enough not to clog my pores but also mattifies my skin. I loved using the Botanics Shine Away Moisturiser (Review Here ) . However, I find it's getting too thick for my skin now and I wanted something lighter and I think I've found something that ticks those boxes.

I've been using this moisturiser from Simple for over a month now and I'm really enjoying using it. It leaves my skin feeling soft and shine free without being thick and heavy.
I prefer the packaging of this compared to the Botanics moisturiser because it's in a hygienic tube which gives me more control over how much product I use.
The consistency of this Simple moisturiser is very strange, it is a hybrid creamy gel and it feels like it has minerals mixed into it because it feels slightly grainy.
It sinks in quickly and gets rid of shine within a couple of minutes, it sits under makeup nicely and smells fresh and clean too.
The only downside to this product is that it has no spf, luckily my BB cream has an spf of 25 but I would prefer this moisturiser to have spf too just as a back up.
Overall, this is a nice product and will work great in summer but I may have to keep looking for a summer moisturiser that has spf to protect my skin from the harsh rays.
This product can be purchased from Boots for £4.27

NOTW: Rita Ora X Rimmel 60 Seconds Nail Polish- Lose Your Lingerie

Sunday, 6 April 2014

Hello everyone! I hope you're all well. Firstly I'd like to say a happy hello to all my new followers, I can't believe how much my blog's fan base has grown over the past couple of months, it's crazy! To all the good old faithfuls who've been with me from the beginning, thank you. I appreciate each one of you and hope you will stick around to join me on my blogging journey.
Anyway, all the soppiness out of the way lets get on with this post.

I think it's safe to say I'm getting a bit obsessed with Rita Ora's nail polish line. I've been looking for new pastel polishes to add to my collection and I don't own any paste pink shades. I was going to buy the new pink shade from Barry M but I spotted this one and compared them. I definately preferred this one because it's more muted, whereas the Barry M one looked too pale for my liking.
As with the other polishes in the 60 seconds line they last for about 4-5 days before chipping and this polish lived up to this expectation. I love this colour for spring, it makes me look a little bit tanned, I can't wait to see what it will look like in the summer.
Overall this is a great polish, I can't fault it. No doubt I'll be buying more from the line!
This polish can be purchased from Boots for £3.69 .

The Reading Corner: Ash

Wednesday, 2 April 2014

Hello everyone! It's that time again to share my thoughts on a book I've recently finished. I can't believe how many books I've got through this year and it's only April.

I honestly thought this book would have taken me a lot longer than it did to read. But the writing is so gripping you just want to keep reading.
James Herbert is a very well known thriller and horror writer/author and Ash was his final book before he passed away in March last year. I haven't read any of his previous books but after reading this one I definately want to read them.
This novel is about a parapsychologist named David Ash who is investigating a secret castle in Comraich. After hearing the horror stories from residents and employees at the castle Ash is completely unprepared to deal with the problem lurking in the castle and it isn't just the spirits who are evil but the guests too.
This has got to be one of my favourite books, I thoroughly enjoyed reading it! The chapters are pretty long in this book, so if you want an easy read you've come to the wrong place. There is a lot going on, with a whole load of characters involved but I found it  fairly easy to keep up with.
I want to tell you everything that has happened in the book but I can't! I don't want to spoil it for anyone. I suggest checking it out for yourself if you enjoy horror/thriller books.

Do you have any reading recommendations?
