Barry M Natural Glow Eyeshadow Palette Review

Wednesday, 26 February 2014

Hello everyone! Barry M released new (well they're not new anymore) eyeshadow palettes last year and I wanted to get my hands on the Natural Glow palette which has six neutral eyeshadows and one blusher.

I'm a massive fan of Barry M's nail polishes and I've owned a few of their shimmer pots and a blusher in the past and they were great products, so I had high hopes for this palette. However it didn't live up to the standard I was hoping for.
As you can see from the swatches above the colour pay off is not very good at all, the darker colours swatch the best but the blush isn't even noticeable on my pale skin!
You definately need an eyeshadow primer with these shadows to get any reasonable colour pay off. The shadows last about 5 hours before they start to fade. The shadows I've been using the most from this palette are the light pink, shimmery vanilla, matte brown and the dark shimmery brown.
I was disappointed by this palette but I did use it for quite a while just to justify purchasing it but I wouldn't buy it again. It can be purchased from Boots for £6.49

Have you tried any of the Barry M eyeshadow palettes?

NOTW: Rimmel X Kate Moss Salon Pro Nail Polish- Punk Rock

Sunday, 23 February 2014

Hello everyone! Just a quick NOTW post today, I brought a new nail polish at the beginning of the week and I couldn't wait to try it out.

I was torn between this polish and a nude one but I decided to get this one because I don't have many darker nail polishes in my collection. This polish is a dark purple navy colour (if that make sense) which is very unusual and I don't own any polish like it.
As with all the salon pro nail polishes the brush is very big and wide which makes applying the polish easier and faster.
The polish is relatively opaque with just one coat but it is slightly streaky, so I would recommend two coats just to give it a smooth finish.
This polish lasted about 4 days before I noticed considerable chipping.
I would highly recommend giving these polishes a go because they have a great colour selection. They can be purchased from Boots for £4.49 .

What nail polish have you been wearing this week?

Life's a treat with Shaun the Sheep...

Wednesday, 19 February 2014

Hello everyone! I honestly never thought I'd be dedicating a blog post just to a hair brush, yet here we are! The infamous Tangle Teezer is a cult product among the blogging community for it's ability to de-tangle hair without the pain and tugging. I was very skeptical about buying it, I thought it was going to work because my hair brushing experience is always painful and tedious because my hair is thick and coarse. Not to mention that my hair goes frizzy and static whenever I brush it, which is not a pleasant sight! Recently Tangle Teezer released a limited edition Shaun the Sheep compact brush which I couldn't resist buying because it's so cute!

I couldn't wait to put this brush to the test and I can now completely understand the hype, it's amazing! I've used this brush when my hair is damp or dry and it removes any tangles I have in my hair without any tugging or pain.
The shape of the brush makes it very comfortable to hold and brushing my hair is a lot easier and faster.
I cap is a great added touch to stop the bristles from getting bent when I put it in my bag.
This brush is fantastic and because I loved it so much I brought my mom one from the original line and she thinks it's amazing too!
I highly recommend trying a Tangle Teezer if you find brushing your hair painful and time-consuming, you won't regret it!
They can be purchased from the Tangle Teezer website.

Have you tried a Tangle Teezer yet?

Natural Collection Pink Cloud Blush Review

Sunday, 16 February 2014

Hello everyone! I hope you're all well. Recently my beloved mirrored pink blush from Sleek broke and pretty much disintegrated. So it was obvious I needed a new blush. I was shopping in Boots and walked past the Natural Collection section. The lipsticks from Natural Collection are such a bargain and I'd heard great things about their blush so I thought I'd give one a go.

I was torn between peach melba and pink cloud. But I decided peach melba would be ideal for summer and chose pink cloud instead.
This blush is a cute baby pink colour that looks great for the winter because it gives you that "pinched cheeks" kind of look, like you've been out in the cold.
The quality of this blush is fantastic for just £1.99, it applies evenly and gives great colour pay off, however I did find it to be a little bit chalky.
The packaging is simple and cheap like all the other products but it works and my blush hasn't shattered yet!
This blush lasts around 5 hours on my oily skin before it completely fades, which for the price is decent enough for me.
I definately want to try more blushes from Natural Collection, no doubt it will be the infamous peach melba blush.
You can purchase this product from Boots.

What is your favourite Natural Collection blush?

The Light Weight Base

Friday, 14 February 2014

Hello everyone! I've recently changed up my foundation routine. I've been opting for lighter and moisturising base because my skin has been very dehydrated at the moment. I decided to opt for a bb cream which will give me an even skin tone but also provides moisture. After reading many reviews I decided to buy the Dr. Jart Water Fuse BB Cream.

My skin has been a mess lately with constant breakouts (i think it's because of a face oil I'm using) so I wanted a base that could provide some coverage but doesn't feel heavy on my skin or clog my pores and cause more breakouts.
I love Asian bb creams because of the coverage they provide. However the shade range is usually limited to only one colour and the Dr Jart bb cream is no exception. When I swatched it I thought there is no way this is going to match my pale skin. But once it's blended in it is slightly too dark but it's hardly noticeable. It evens out my skin tone and covers redness but if you have any blemishes you will probably need concealer. It's also oil-free which is great for us oily-skinned girls and an spf of 25 which is a bonus as it saves you adding sunscreen to your makeup routine.
The finish is very dewy but I always set my makeup with powder anyway so this didn't bother me. It lasted around 6-7 hours on my skin before it started to fade which is pretty good for my oily skin.
If you are looking for a lighter coverage base and you have oily skin I'd highly recommend trying this out. However if you have dark skin you'll probably struggle to get this product to work for you.
You can purchase it from Boots for £18 (it's currently on offer for £12).

The Reading Corner: The Book of Souls

Wednesday, 12 February 2014

Hello everyone! I've finally finished another book, so I'm ready to share my thoughts with you all. I recently finished reading The Book of Souls, which is a crime, thriller novel.

It feels like it took forever for me to finish this book. But that's because I took a break from reading over the holidays but I'm finally back into my usual reading on the bus to university routine.
This novel is about Detective McLean who has finally put his fiancee's killer (Anderson)  to rest when he is declared dead. However, a copycat killer begins killing women just like Anderson. McLean must race to find this new killer who's on the loose.
I found this novel a little slow to get into but once I found my rhythm I really enjoyed reading this book. I figured out who the killer was about two thirds of the way through but if you want to find out who it is, you'll have to read the book for yourself. I can't wait to read James Oswald's new Detective McLean novel called The Hangman's Song which comes out the end of this month.

What book have you been reading lately?

NOTW: Rimmel 60 Seconds Nail Polish- Caramel Cupcake

Sunday, 9 February 2014

Hello everyone! I have a quick NOTW post for you today sharing with you my new favourite nude polish.

The top photo shows the polish true to colour.

This polish is like a glossy version of Barry M's matte nail polish which funnily enough is called caramel. I picked this polish up last week and was featured in my first "What I Spent Sunday" post ( Link Here  ).
I couldn't wait to try this polish out, the formula is nice, it's not streaky, it applies smoothly but it doesn't dry in 60 seconds. It's more like 3-5 minutes.
This polish lasted about 4 days before I noticed some chipping. Overall it's a great polish, that's a glossy alternative to the Barry M polish and I can see myself wearing this anytime of the year.
It can be purchased from Boots for £3.69 (it's currently on offer for £2.69).

What nail polish have you been wearing this week?

What I Spent Sunday #2

Hello everyone! I hope you're all well. I have another WISS post for you because I had to pick up a few essentials from Boots because I'd ran out of some products, along with some odds and sods.

Top Row: Yankee Candle Votive Candle- Summer Scoop, Neutrogena visibly clear anti-shine face wash, Garnier almond oil body lotion.
Middle Row: Yankee Candle Votive Candle- Fireside Treats, Barry M Lash Vegas Mascara, Denman Dressing Out Brush, Boots Pencil Sharpener.
Bottom Row: Yankee Candle Holder, Boots Slanted Tweezers, Barry M Gelly High Shine nail polish- Prickly Pear.

I also purchased some cards for my brother's birthday and for my boyfriend on Valentine's day but I didn't feature them because I have already wrote in them and sealed them up. I also purchased a nail polish and blush for my mom but I didn't feature them either.
I can't wait to start burning my candles because they smell amazing! I feel like I brought loads of things this week but I did need most of them so I can justify it.

What have you brought this week?
Thank you for stopping by!

Etude House Proof 10 Eye Primer Review

Friday, 7 February 2014

Hello everyone! I'm an avid user of eye primers because I suffer from oily eyelids which causes a lot of eyeshadow creasing and smearing (not a pretty sight). I was browsing Ebay looking at some of the Asian makeup brands and found this eye primer from Etude House and I love it!

The packaging like most Asian beauty products is cute and fun I wish western makeup was the same. The primer comes in a small potion bottle like tube with a doe-foot applicator, which makes applying the product fuss free.
The consistency of the product is creamy without being oily or slick. It blends in nicely and the nude shade helps to cover any veins or discolouration.
A little goes a long way with this primer and it helps my shades stay on all day with no creasing or smudging. It's a little miracle worker!
This primer is going to last me ages and I will definately repurchase it again.

What is your favourite eye primer?

Featured Post: CovR Bags

Tuesday, 4 February 2014

Hello everyone! I have a very different post for you today, I was approached a month a go (December seems so long a go now) by a company called CovR Bags. I couldn't resist going and having a nose at their website and their products are so unique and fascinating!

Monochrome Winter Warms and Fall Fashion Collection

The COUTURE Edit- Red Luscious Lips Collection

The ROYAL Horse Riding and Fierce Fashion Collection

 LEOPARD Print Sizzling Summer Collection

CovR Bags specialize in creating clutch bags that look like rolled up magazines. This concept originated in Italy where women used magazines to hide their valuables from pickpockets. Pretty clever right?
These bags are a great statement for any outfit. Even Rihanna has been spotted styling one herself!
My personal favourite is the COUTURE Edit clutch which has an edgy, punk rock vibe to it. I would style it with a simple monochrome dress ( I love this one from missguided ), with some nude heels and a leather jacket.
These collections retail for £32. Which i believe is a reasonable price considering their originality.
You can also design your own magazine bag cover by contacting CovR Bags at info@CovRbags.com.
I hope you enjoyed this post and you can take a look at the collections for yourselves.

Which clutch bag is your favourite?

What I Spent Sunday #1

Sunday, 2 February 2014

Hello everyone! I know what you're thinking two haul posts in one week but I've decided to turn these posts into a little series. I've decided to call it "What I Spent Sundays". It sounds much better than just calling them haul posts. This will allow me to share with you my little or big purchases I've made during the week. These posts will be scattered here and there because my spending habits will probably change each week. I hope you like this new style of post and lets get into the first one of the series.

(L-R: Batiste Dry Shampoo-Oriental, Rimmel Scandaleyes Rockin' Curves mascara, Rimmel 60 Seconds nail polish- Caramel Cupcake, Maybelline Colour Tattoo-Pink Gold, Rimmel Scandaleyes kohl pencil- Bronze, Collection Pressed Powder- Ivory)

I purchased all these products at the beginning of the week when I had some free time after University. Some of the products like the dry shampoo and face powder are constant repurchases when I run out. I always stock up on the Collection pressed powder when it's in the store because my local Boots don't have it in very often.
I needed a new mascara and the new Rimmel mascara was on offer for £5 so I thought I would give it a go.
I brought the Maybelline Colour Tattoo and kohl eye pencil because I wanted to change my everyday makeup routine and these have worked perfectly.
Lastly I picked up yet another nail polish because I'm a nail polish fiend. I will have a post show casing it very soon.
I hope you enjoyed the first installment of my new series, there will be plenty more in the future.

What have you purchased this week?
Thank you for stopping by!
