NOTW: Barry M Gelly High Shine Nail Polish- Almond

Sunday, 25 May 2014

Hello everyone! Recently, I've been addicted to neutral nail polish and I've added a new one to my collection in the form of a polish from the new Barry M Gelly High Shine summer collection.

I love this polish! It's the perfect taupe shade and will be perfect to wear all year round.
I love the gelly nail polish from Barry M, the formula is amazing! I only use two coats and get a smooth, opaque colour.
This polish lasted about 6 days before it started to chip.
The new shades from Barry M look really pretty and will look great with a tan in the summer. I highly recommend checking out the new collection.
You can purchase this polish from Boots for £3.99 .

What do you think of the new summer collection from Barry M?

Sleek Pout Polish- Powder Pink Review

Wednesday, 21 May 2014

Hello everyone! It's well known that Sleek is very popular in the blogging sphere yet I've never really joined in the hype. I've always thought the products looked amazing but never brought anything, until I tried one of their limited edition blushes (Review Here ) and completely understood everyone's obsession. I recently decided to try one of their pout polishes because I'd read a lot of reviews claiming they were great for using everyday and I definately agree!

I picked this product up when I was taking advantage of Superdrug's 3 for 2 offer and decided to give it a go. It's been part of my everyday makeup routine ever since.
I picked the shade powder pink and it's one of those "your lips but better" shades, it adds just enough colour to liven up my complexion but also doesn't blend into nothing, it's perfect!
The packaging is just a simple plastic pot with the Sleek motif on the lid. The only downside to the product being in a pot is that I have to dip my finger into the product which isn't the most hygienic way to apply a lip product, but I can get over that just for the colour of it.
I love the no nonsense application too, just swipe it over your lips like a lip balm and you're good to go, this product will be perfect for those days when you're in rush.
It claims to be a lip conditioner, however, I didn't find it very moisturizing or conditioning, it just added a nice gloss to my lips without being sticky and it has an spf of 15 which is an added bonus because our lips needed protecting from the sun too!
If you have rosy coloured lips this product will be perfect for you and I highly recommend trying out the Pout Polishes for yourself.
They can be purchased from Superdrug or the Sleek website .

Have you tried the Pout Polishes yet?

What I Spent Sunday #5

Sunday, 18 May 2014

Hello everyone! I've been on another spending spree so I thought I'd share with you what I purchased during the week. Most of these products were purchased in one day but I did make another trip into my local town to pick up a concealer and mascara.

L-R: Superdrug Naturally Radiant Hot Cloth Cleanser, Simple Light Moisturiser, Maybelline The Rocket Volume Express Mascara, Sleek Pout Polish- Powder Pink, Collection Pressed Powder-Ivory, Seventeen Stay Time Concealer- Extra Fair, Barry M Gelly High Shine Nail Polish- Almond, MUA Pro Base Eye Primer

A lot of these purchases were essentials because I was running out of a lot of products especially my concealer, face moisturiser and my holy grail face powder. The other products were back ups for products that are going to run out in about a week. I also took advantage of Superdrug's 3 for 2 offer and brought a Sleek Pout Polish and a Barry M nail polish from their new summer collection.
I'll be reviewing most of these products in future posts so keep an eye out!

What have you purchased recently?

NOTW: Seventeen Gel Nail Polish- Long Island

Hello everyone! I hope you're all well and if you're from the UK I hope you've been enjoying the sunshine we've recently been having and that's the reason why this post is late, I've been out in the sun all weekend and sort of forgot about my blog post (oops). Nevertheless I'm getting a post up for you anyway. Recently all the weather has been brightening up my nails are taken a different turn and taking to the more neutral side.

I featured this nail polish from Seventeen in my last WISS post ( Link Here ). I had my eye on it as soon as I noticed the stand in Boots. I finally bit the bullet and brought it and I have no regrets!
Every time I wear grey nail polish it always makes me think of an elephant or a rhino (just me?) and that makes me happy.
However this polish didn't go on as smoothly as the last gel polish I purchased from Seventeen, but the brush was very splayed out so I think that ruined the application. The formula was still good from this polish it lasted 5 days and then chipped like crazy!
I love this nail polish shade and will probably wear it all year long. I highly recommend trying these polishes out. They can be purchased from Boots for £3.99 .

Have you tried any of the gel polishes from Seventeen?
Thank you for stopping by!

Battle of the Intense Hair Treatments

Thursday, 15 May 2014

Hello everyone! I know this blog post is late but exam revision took over my life. However, my exams are over (hurray) so I'll be getting back to my usual blogging schedule.
Recently, my mom brought me a hair treatment. I'd never seen it before, it's the L'Oreal Ever Riche Perfect Elixir. I own the mask form of this product which is called the L'Oreal Ever Riche Intense Mask. I decided to compare the two and let you know which one I prefer.

Firstly, both items share the same gold and brown themed packaging, except the mask is in a tub and the elixir is in a spray bottle.
I've been using the mask for almost 4 months and I've definately noticed a difference to my hair. It makes my hair super smooth and soft without weighing it down. It smelly lovely, it's sweet and clean. I use this mask once a week and leave it on for about 10 minutes, then rinse it off. I truly believe this mask has helped keep my hair in great conditioner and I would repurchase it.
When I was given the elixir I decided to try it out in place of the mask. When using the elixir I had to condition my hair with my regular conditioner first which I thought added unnecessary time on to my shower routine and the end result was pretty rubbish. It made no difference to my hair at all. It didn't feel smooth or nourished. Also the spray bottle is a faff trying to evenly coat your hair and controlling where the product was going. I wouldn't by it for myself (sorry mom).
If you have thick, coarse hair like me I'd highly recommend trying out the intense mask. The elixir may be something to try if you have fine hair.
You can purchase these products from Boots .

Have you tried any of the Ever Riche Products?

NOTW: China Glaze Nail Polish- Petal To The Metal

Sunday, 11 May 2014

Hello everyone! I recently brought a polish from China Glaze's new City Flourish Collection for Spring/ Summer and I've been loving it!

As you all probably know by now I'm not a fan of pink nail polish but this polish is the perfect neon pinky coral colour! I can't get over how bright it is, but China Glaze are known for their bright polishes.
I have another polish from China Glaze but the formula was terrible it chipped the day I painted my nails so I was very skeptical about trying this one out but I was pleasantly surprised. The formula was thick and smooth, it applied evenly and two coats made the colour very opaque.
As for chipping, this polish lasted a good 5 days on my nails before a lot of it chipped off.
The City Flourish collection has a beautiful range of colours from a gorgeous nude to a neon lime green. I have my eye in the nude shade! Also the names are super cute with a floral theme.
I highly recommend checking out the collection for yourself, you can purchase China Glaze polishes here .

Have you tried any polishes from the City Flourish Collection?

What I Spent Sunday #4

Hello everyone! I hope you're all well. I haven't posted a WISS post in a while, mainly because I've been paying off my holiday and paying for driving lessons.
Now I have a bit more money to myself I picked up a few essentials and a couple of treats.

L-R: Biore Blemish-Fighting Ice Cleanser/ Batiste Dry Shampoo- Wild/ Right Guard Xtreme Dry Deodorant/ Soap and Glory Pulp Friction Body Scrub/ NSpa Coconut Body Butter/ Maybelline Cover Stick Concealer- Ivory/ Maybelline Fit Me Concealer-10/ Seventeen Gel Nail Polish-Long Island/ Barry M Gelly High Shine Nail Polish- Sugar Apple

I have purchased these products over a few weeks, I didn't go on a mad shopping spree
all in one go (I have done it many times in the past though) . The dry shampoo and deodorant are repurchases for me because no one wants smelly hair and body odour (that's a no go). I've never tried the wild scent before because it's never usually in stock in the Boots in my town. The body scrub is also a repurchase because it's my favourite body scrub!
I brought the Biore cleanser on a recommendation from my mom, we have pretty similar skin so if it's working for her I had to try it. The body butter was also an essential, I can't deal with having dry skin, I like to feel soft and smooth.
Lastly, I took advantage of the current 3 for 2 offer in Boots and picked up a couple of concealers from Maybelline to try out because my local Boots ran out of the Collection Lasting Perfection concealer ( I almost had a heart attack in the shop) so I thought I'd use them until they restock it. I also couldn't resist picking up a new nail polish, I brought the Barry M polish the week before the offer was on and I had my eye on the gel polish from Seventeen for a while, so I snatched it up quick.
I hope you are all enjoying my WISS posts because I've been enjoying writing them.

The Reading Corner: Rush Of Blood

Wednesday, 7 May 2014

Hello everyone! I hope you're all well. It's that time again, I've finished another book so it's time for me to share my thoughts with you.

Firstly, I'd like to apologize for the crazy lighting in the pictures, the sun kept going in and out and these were the best pictures out of all the ones I took. Hopefully they're not too off-putting.
Anyway, onto the book itself. Rush Of Blood is about 3 British couples who all happen to be stopping at the same hotel when a girl goes missing and is later found dead. When they return to England they arrange to all meet up over dinner, each couple has a turn at hosting a dinner party but the more time they spend together the more the story unravels.
I wasn't sure if I was going to like this book when I first started reading it, I thought it was a little slow-paced at the beginning but once the story started to unfold it was a great read.
After the I was done reading the second part of the book I sussed who the killer was straightaway, I just had a gut feeling of who it was and it turned out I was right. Of course I'm not going to spoil it for you.
If you like thriller novels you might want to add this one to your collection.

What book have you currently been reading?

NOTW: Barry M Gelly High Shine Nail Polish- Sugar Apple

Sunday, 4 May 2014

Hello everyone! I know a few of my recent posts have been a bit negative and those products have been very disappointing but I'm sharing with you today a nail polish that I've been loving all week.

(The top picture shows the most realistic colour of the polish, the sun kept going in and out of the clouds when I was taking the pictures so there is a colour change in the pictures)

I brought this polish when I was in Boots picking up a body scrub (review coming soon). I've been dying to try one of these polishes from Barry M since they mentioned they were releasing new colours for spring. I obviously had to go for the pastel green shade called "Sugar Apple" because I'm obsessed with green nail polish. There's also a pastel pink and blue shade to choose from as well.
I love the formula of the gelly polishes, it glides on smoothly, it dries quickly and creates a very opaque colour in just two coats.
This polish lasted about 3 days before I had a couple of chips but I did wash my hair that day which usually contributes to my nail polish chipping off.
I'm definately going to be rocking this polish all through spring and into summer, I bet this polish will look great with a tan!
I highly recommend checking the spring collection out if you love pastel nail polish. I've got my eye on the blue one next.
This polish can be purchased from Boots for £3.99 .

What is your favourite Gelly nail polish from Barry M?

Boots Botanics All Bright Cleansing Foam Wash Review

Friday, 2 May 2014

Hello everyone! Firstly I'd like to apologize for the late post. I've been revising like crazy and completely forgot to write a blog post. My exams are my priority so if my posting is a bit sporadic for a few weeks you know why.
Anyway, since the weather has been warming up my skin has started to get oilier. In the spring and summer I tend to stick to foam or gel face washes because they are not as heavy on my skin and more refreshing during the summer months. I recently picked up the Boots Botanics foam wash from their All Bright range. I've been using it consistently for 3 weeks now and I'm confident to let you all know it's not for me.

The packaging intrigued me, I've never used a foam face wash in a tube. But after the first use and seeing that it came out in a gel that lathers into a foam It made sense to me. The tube is a simple white with a hibiscus flower motif, it's pretty and eye-catching.
The face wash itself is very disappointing. It hardly foamed up at all which I assumed made it less drying but that wasn't the case at all, my skin felt very dried out and as a consequence it broke out even more than usual. My skin definately doesn't like this face wash at all. I won't be repurchasing this again, I'll save myself £3.99

What face washes do you recommend for oily skin?
